Capital Brewery

Capital Brewery brewed the first batch of beer, a pilsner, in the spring of 1986 and was founded to brew traditional German style lager beer in America. It has branched out to include American style ales, barrel aged beers, and now brews four distinct IPA’s.

Capital is committed to sustainability and installed solar electric panels in April of 2014. Spent grain is provided to feed cattle raised by an area farmer. The Capital Brewery Bike Club was formed in 2009 and now over 100 riders meet regularly at the Brewery every Tuesday and Thursday when the weather is pleasant.

The Capital Beer Garden is open April through October and often hosts live music as well as numerous public and private events. It is known as ‘Middleton’s Backyard’ and typically attracts over 1500 patrons on Fridays, May through September.

The indoor Bier Stube is open during the winter months (approximately Nov- April) and is also available for private events. Tours of the facility may be scheduled on its website.

Meet the Brewmaster

Ashley Kinart is a UW Madison graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. She then received an International Brewing Diploma from the Siebel Institute of Technology at the Doemens Academy in Munch, Germany.

Ashley, who grew up in Brookfield, WI, is also a member of the Pink Boots Society. The Pink Boots Society is a national organization that empowers women beer professionals to advance their careers in the beer industry through education.

Her Fishin’ in the Dark was an overnight sensation, soon followed by Schwarz in a Box, King George and Grateful Red IPA.

Though she remains a relatively new member of our team, Ashley continues to excel by adding more and more superlative varieties of beer to our lineup, like the ones found below:
